As basketball season wraps up, Euclid Entourage (EE) leaders are sharing the spotlight with the new and upcoming leaders for the 2024-2025 school year.
The EE is Hayes’ heart and soul when it comes to events such as basketball games and football games.
Every school year, towards the end of basketball season, current EE leaders announce the upcoming leaders for the next school year.
For the 2024-2025 school year, those leaders include juniors Kyle Sanson, Stevie Glesenkamp, Elise Buckerfield and Vincent Hupp.
2023-2024 leader Ian Green expanded on what the process is like when picking the upcoming student section leaders.
“We wanted to get people who we thought could get more people invested [to coming to athletic events,]” Green said. “[We wanted people that] could have good ideas for chants, themes and be active on the social media account.”
Green elaborated on why he and the three current leaders picked the people they did as 2024-2025 student section leaders.
“The people we picked also were people who seemed invested all year and were constantly showing up, being loud and excited,” Green said. “We also needed to find people who we thought would be able to work well together, but not necessarily be all from the same clique so people in the actual student section felt like they could be involved since there isn’t just one stereotype in all four leaders.”
One of the newest leaders is Stevie Glesenkamp.
“The thing I’m looking forward to the most as an EE leader is the [Buckeye Valley] game because it’s always a fun environment and everyone shows up,” Glesenkamp said.
Glesenkamp is a basketball player for the Hayes basketball team and said he is very excited for the 2024-2025 school year to kick off and get the student section in action.
Another rising leader is Kyle Sanson. Sanson is a part of the cross country team and baseball team.
“Since freshman year, I have gone to almost every game and shown my school spirit and support for my friends performing. I saw the leaders before me and wanted to be in the same position they were as student section leaders,” Sanson said. “This is definitely something I have been looking forward to for the past three years.”
Sanson is very excited to take over the role of being a student section leader and is looking forward to adding onto what the past leaders have established for them.
“I’m not looking to change much, I think that the current leaders do a great job,” Sanson said. “I will add a few new chants and maybe a megaphone for the football games.”
Vincent Hupp is a soccer player for the Hayes team and expressed how the past Euclid Entourage leaders have had an effect on what he will do as a leader.
“The past EE leaders have been such great mentors and have started lots of fun traditions that I hope we continue moving forward with in the future,” Hupp said. “The spirit buses have been a great addition and also lots of fun new chants, such as, ‘Third down, our down.’”
Every year, the EE has chosen one girl out of the entire senior class for a part of the student section leader role.
This year, Elise Buckerfield was picked for this role.
Buckerfield expressed her excitement about being picked to represent Hayes’ student section as the female leader.
“I am super glad I was chosen to be the female EE leader. I am hopeful that we will all be able to work together and have another great year,” Buckerfield said. “I’m very excited about making the student section and games enjoyable for everyone else because that’s what the EE has done through my high school years.”
Buckerfield is a rising senior, plays for the girls soccer team and has been very active in the student section in all four years of high school.
All four rising seniors are excited to kick off the student section on August 18 for the first football game of the season against Hayes’ rival Buckeye Valley.
