Roblox has been intentionally exposing underaged children to pedophiles and getting away with it.
There is no secret that Roblox has faced controversy throughout the years for their failure to protect children from dangerous content and users. This has even led to real world crimes like the 2025 kidnapping of a 10 year old who was groomed by a 27-year-old male while in the game. However, this has been taken to another level with the banning of Youtuber Schlep from the game.
Schlep was a popular content creator who made videos in which he would bait and catch predators on the game, leading to the real life arrest of 6 pedophiles. He began these videos to protect children, with him having been a victim himself while playing the game in his youth. When the exposure of these bad actors began to gain attention, Roblox promptly banned and sued him for being a “vigilante.”
This response is nothing new from the Roblox administration. Previously, Youtuber Ruben Sim was banned and sued for similar reasons by the multibillion-dollar company.
Now this incident seems to have been the last straw for the international community. Countries such as Indonesia have proposed banning the game as a result of Roblox’s response. Along with this, the state of Louisiana is building up a case against the company.
Since then, the corporation has lost tens of billions of dollars from investors. Even Roblox’s chief safety officer was caught selling mass amounts of stocks shortly after the controversy began to pick up heat.
However, it seems that the Roblox administration hates money, as CEO David Baszucki, along with other top officials of the company, released an AI-generated apology in response to public outcry.
These actions from the corporation are a prime example of modern consumerism being placed above the welfare of our people. Even the most vulnerable of our society, children, are exposed to extreme danger as long as it makes a quick buck.
This is the same reason why Roblox responded to outcry and made some controversial games 17+. Why not instead 18+? They can’t bring themselves to get rid of the cash cow that is impressionable, consumeristic children.
Many are seemingly forgetful that this is a game literally made for children. It is not as if underaged individuals were playing a game illegally and in turn exposed to what they shouldn’t be. In almost all industries made for children, mass legislation has been made as a safety measure. This is seen in codes for children’s food and clothing.
Why aren’t these business tycoons being prosecuted for endangering children? In the last decade, online games have grown at a speed much quicker than legislation is passed. This has created a sort of grey zone in much of what can or can’t be allowed.
Top officials at Roblox have taken advantage of this along with weaponizing fake naivety to pretend that anything dangerous on their platform is not in their control. This same defense is being used by other online entities to circumvent negative attention.
It is common knowledge in the Roblox community that many users that use sexual skins and emotes will connect with others like them through massive discord servers. Impressionable adolescents are then coerced into joining these servers where much worse happens than in the game.
This crucial aspect of child exploitation on Roblox seems to be getting ignored by mainstream media covering the controversy, allowing Discord, another multibillion-dollar company, to avoid negative attention for an issue that they hold much responsibility for. Discord’s involvement in this is not surprising however, with them notoriously having been the stomping ground for the 764 online terrorist organization.
Many want this attention on Roblox to die down, as the further it is looked into, the more exposed other platforms that follow these similar practices will be exposed.
This has culminated into a cover up, which was seen with multiple of Roblox’s largest games simultaneously releasing mass updates at a suspiciously convenient time, leading to a new record for gaming platform with the most concurrent players.
The truth of child exploitation on Roblox is a complicated, but dangerous one. This recent explosion in negative attention for the company is a result of years of neglect.
Now that Schlep has begun to work with the bane of pedophiles himself, Chris Hansen, real change will start to take place. This is not an issue that can be allowed to be forgotten by the masses when a new hot topic takes over the media or lobbying dollars fatten the pockets of politicians. One universal truth links those who live in our society, and that is the necessity of protecting our children.
