This year, the Talisman is doing special features on 26 unique seniors throughout the school year to celebrate these past four years they’ve spent here. These students represent the different facets of the class of 2026 at Delaware Hayes.
Meet BP:
Q: What activities are you involved in at Hayes?
A: I’m involved in wrestling and bowling at Hayes. I’m also part of Business Professionals of America and am running for an officer position.
Q: Do you have any commitments outside of school?
A: Outside of school, I lift at the YMCA and do sports photography on the side.
Q: How did you balance your schoolwork with your other commitments?
A: My GPA wasn’t great in the first two years because I lacked self-motivation. However, after I started attending DACC full-time, I really wanted to be back with my team, so I put my all into my schoolwork.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Hayes?
A: My favorite memory from Hayes is House Games 2023; it was the best day of my life.
Q: What has been your favorite class at Hayes and why?
A: My favorite class was Coach Butts’ physical science class. While I didn’t learn much science, I learned a lot of life skills and how to be a better person from him.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for future high schoolers?
A: My advice for future high schoolers is to take opportunities to know your teachers, ask for help, retake tests, and most importantly, take advantage of what Hayes has to offer.
Q: What is one thing you’ll miss when you’re gone?
A: I’ll definitely miss the Hayes vs. BV games and the baby powder in the air after a touchdown.
Q: What are your plans for after high school and why?
A: After high school, I plan to go into ROTC in college, attend Bronx Community College for two years, and then Florida International for the last two years.
Good luck BP! We are looking forward to seeing what you will achieve in these next steps.
