This year, the Talisman is doing special features on 26 unique seniors throughout the school year to celebrate these past four years they’ve spent here. These students represent the different facets of the class of 2026 at Delaware Hayes.
Meet Maddy:
Q: What activities are you involved in at Hayes?
A: I am involved in National Honors Society and the swim team.
Q: Do you have any commitments outside of school?
A: I work multiple jobs and swim for a club team over the summer.
Q: How did you balance your schoolwork with your other commitments?
A: I try to get my school work done during the school day, so even if I [leave] school I try to stay productive on school work from 7:30ish to 2, because of this I have hours after the typical school day to work and spend time with friends and family.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Hayes?
A: My favorite memory from Hayes is everything that I’ve done with the swim team. I enjoy volunteering, team bonding, and time I get to spend with my friends because of it.
Q: What has been your favorite class at Hayes and why?
A: My favorite class at Hayes has been Intro to College Admissions since it has given me the most help as well as giving me the ability to hang out with my friends.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for future high schoolers?
A: I think that you should try to be involved in House, it’s never going to be fun if you don’t make friends and participate.
Q: What is one thing you’ll miss when you’re gone?
A: I’m going to miss my friends who aren’t graduating this year.
Q: What are your plans for after high school and why?
A: My plans are to major in education at Ohio Wesleyan University or Ohio State University. Over the years my teachers have inspired me and I want to be able to have the same impact on others as they had on me.
Good luck Maddy! We are looking forward to seeing what you will achieve in these next steps.
