This year, the Talisman is doing special features on 26 unique seniors throughout the school year to celebrate these past four years they’ve spent here. These students represent the different facets of the class of 2026 at Delaware Hayes.
Meet Ava:
Q: What activities are you involved in at Hayes?
A: Symphony Orchestra, Hayes Players, color guard, teen eco, and HOLL (Hayes Outdoor Learning Lab).
Q: Do you have any commitments outside of school?
A: Taekwondo and weekly volunteer work at my church.
Q: How did you balance your schoolwork with your other commitments?
A: Using a planner, and taking it out of my bag every class so I don’t forget to write anything down.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Hayes?
A: House games day last year, Prospect Hill did AWESOME with project runway.
Q: What has been your favorite class at Hayes and why?
A: Orchestra! It’s so fun being able to create music in such a large group of people that all share a passion for music.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for future high schoolers?
A: Don’t be scared to sign up for clubs/try out for things! Go for it, enjoy high school!
Q: What is one thing you’ll miss when you’re gone?
A: All the opportunities [at Hayes] to make connections with people and meet new friends.
Q: What are your plans for after high school and why?
A: [I plan to go] to college to get a doctorate in psychology! My dream is to one day become a therapist, and maybe even open up my own practice.
