This year, the Talisman is doing special features on 26 unique seniors throughout the school year to celebrate these past four years they’ve spent here. These students represent the different facets of the class of 2026 at Delaware Hayes.
Meet Amelia:
Q: What activities are you involved in at Hayes?
A: I have been playing the violin for eight years through the Delaware Music program here in Delaware City Schools.
Q: Do you have any commitments outside of school?
A: I study Taekwondo at the ATA [Martial Arts] outside of school. I have been training there for about three years now.
Q: How did you balance your schoolwork with your other commitments?
A: I have very few classes this year, so I can keep up with the work in class and a few minutes outside of school. All my activities are in the evening, so I have a nice gap between school and activities to get my work completed.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Hayes?
A: My favorite memory of Hayes was my junior year when the orchestra took us to New York City in April.
Q: What has been your favorite class at Hayes and why?
A: My favorite extra class at Hayes is orchestra, but my favorite academic class was Human Anatomy and Physiology.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for future high schoolers?
A: One piece of advice for future high schoolers is that you should always try your best, even if it does not look the same as your peers.
Q: What is one thing you’ll miss when you’re gone?
A: Once I am gone from Hayes, I will miss seeing all my friends and keeping updated with their lives.
Q: What are your plans for after high school and why?
A: I am going to Marion Tech for Ultrasound. I want to be in the medical field because it brings me peace knowing that everyone is taken care of.
Good luck Amelia! We are looking forward to seeing what you will achieve in these next steps.
