This year, the Talisman is doing special features on 26 unique seniors throughout the school year to celebrate these past four years they’ve spent here. These students represent the different facets of the class of 2026 at Delaware Hayes.
Meet Carson:
Q: What activities are you involved in at Hayes?
A: I do National Honors Society, golf and Talisman.
Q: Do you have any commitments outside of school?
A: Outside of school, I work at the Strand Theatre, I’m a photographer and I am an America 250 Student Ambassador.
Q: How did you balance your schoolwork with your other commitments?
A: To balance my schoolwork and other commitments, I have to basically make a to-do list with due dates and try to get as far ahead as I can so I’m less likely to fall behind on work.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Hayes?
A: My favorite Hayes memories are going to football and basketball games and sitting in the student section with my friends.
Q: What has been your favorite class at Hayes and why?
A: My favorite class is photography. Mr. Scott has been my favorite teacher and he always makes class fun. He challenges me a lot, making me think outside the box, and gives me lots of cool ideas.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for future high schoolers?
A: One piece of advice I’d have for future highschoolers is to build relationships and take care of yourself. In my case, I’ve really challenged myself with classes and course work and it can feel overwhelming, but creating bonds with friends and being able to have fun outside of school and other commitments makes time in high school more enjoyable.
Q: What is one thing you’ll miss when you’re gone?
A: When I’m gone, I’m going to miss seeing all my friends daily and having all the opportunities I have had. In the moment, the opportunities seem like they won’t end, but at the end of it all you’ll realize how important those opportunities and people were to shaping who you are and, more importantly, who you will become.
Q: What are your plans for after high school and why?
A: After high school, I plan to go to college and study history and pre-law.
Good luck Carson! We are looking forward to seeing what you will achieve in these next steps.
