This year, the Talisman is doing special features on 26 unique seniors throughout the school year to celebrate these past four years they’ve spent here. These students represent the different facets of the class of 2026 at Delaware Hayes.
Meet Abigail:
Q: What activities are you involved in at Hayes?
A: I try to be involved as I can with House activities; it’s been my favorite part since I started here my sophomore year.
Q: Do you have any commitments outside of school?
A: I work at La Matraca Mexican Restaurant after school, study a lot, and play with my pets.
Q: How did you balance your schoolwork with your other commitments?
A: Balancing work, life, and school can be difficult, but I work based on the priority of each task.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Hayes?
A: My favorite memory from Hayes has to be my first homecoming game. Everyone was super pumped, the crowd was loud; it was amazing.
Q: What has been your favorite class at Hayes and why?
A: My favorite class has most definitely been ceramics with Mrs. Vaught. I get to exhibit my creative side, do something hands on, and the atmosphere in her classroom is one of love and acceptance. It’s been a huge help for me already this year.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for future high schoolers?
A: Not to be cliche, but I know as a Freshman it seems like grades don’t matter, but they really do! Try your best, and get involved.
Q: What is one thing you’ll miss when you’re gone?
A: I’ll miss all the House events, and seeing my friends every day.
Q: What are your plans for after high school and why?
A: After high school I’m going to The Ohio State University; double majoring in Zoological Veterinary and Spanish.
Good luck Abigail! We are looking forward to seeing what you will achieve in these next steps.
