This year, the Talisman is doing special features on 26 unique seniors throughout the school year to celebrate these past four years they’ve spent here. These students represent the different facets of the class of 2026 at Delaware Hayes.
Meet Izzy:
Q: What activities are you involved in at Hayes?
A: I am mainly involved in theatre, choir, National Honor Society, and Tri-M at Hayes.
Q: Do you have any commitments outside of school?
A: Outside of school (but still technically in school, I guess), I work as an auditorium technician for Hayes.
Q: How did you balance your schoolwork with your other commitments?
A: I balance my schoolwork with my other commitments by managing my time during study hall and using extra time during class. I am not good at doing work at home, so I will take any opportunity I can get to work in a different environment, like the public library or even at a (responsible) friend’s house.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Hayes?
A: My favorite memory from Hayes is coordinating spirit week outfits with my friends… and having to show up to choir with our outfits.
Q: What has been your favorite class at Hayes and why?
A: My favorite class at Hayes was AP English Language and Composition because the classroom environment always made the work worth it and it genuinely helped improve my skills beyond just the content and format we needed to use for just the AP exam.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for future high schoolers?
A: My advice to future high schoolers would be to challenge yourself with new classes and activities and embrace the new people you meet along the way because they make it worth it in the end.
Q: What is one thing you’ll miss when you’re gone?
A: When I am gone I will miss my crew family in theatre.
Q: What are your plans for after high school and why?
A: After high school I want to go to college, but I am not sure what I want to major in yet.
Good luck Izzy! We are looking forward to seeing what you will achieve in these next steps.
