This year, the Talisman is doing special features on 26 unique seniors throughout the school year to celebrate these past four years they’ve spent here. These students represent the different facets of the class of 2026 at Delaware Hayes.
Meet Nate:
Q: What activities are you involved in at Hayes?
A: Cheerleading, symphony and concert orchestra. I am also a part of two clubs [as well as] the student advisory board and key club.
Q: Do you have any commitments outside of school?
A: Outside of school, I commute to my job, but most of my activities are through school.
Q: How did you balance your schoolwork with your other commitments?
A: I balance my schoolwork with my other commitments by making sure, in whatever free time I have, I am doing something with school. I usually have between 45 minutes to two hours after school before either work or cheer. So, with that [time,] I catch up on work and get ahead.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Hayes?
A: My favorite memory from Hayes will always be the [Buckeye Valley football] games because it’s much more than just a game. It truly is the most fun you have at a game while also being the most stressful.
Q: What has been your favorite class at Hayes and why?
A: My favorite class definitely has to be U.S. History. History has always been so interesting to me so when I got into that class my sophomore year I really enjoyed the curriculum.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for future high schoolers?
A: One piece of advice I would give to future high schoolers is to really enjoy these four years. They truly do go by so quickly. Take all the opportunities [you are] given and just have fun in high school.
Q: What is one thing you’ll miss when you’re gone?
A: I will miss the traditions, such as [playing] the alma mater and doing all the band dances at the start of third quarter. It’s the best.
Q: What are your plans for after high school and why?
A: My plans after high school are to attend college at either Bowling Green State University or Miami-Oxford; I plan to go for music education because I have been in orchestra since fifth grade and I just love seeing how happy my music teacher gets when teaching and I want to have that feeling.
Good luck Nate! We are looking forward to seeing what you will achieve in these next steps.
